The toughest creature every made,
Is the one they call the tardigrade.
It really isn’t very rare,
But it is strong beyond compare.
Some folks call it a water bear,
But the water bear…it just don’t care.
The tardigrade is super tough,
Do what you will… it ain’t enough.
It’s hard as nails, with room to spare,
It don’t need water. It don’t need air.
Need a leg up? It’s got four pair.
The water bear…it just don’t don’t care.
Dry it out for thirty days,
Blast it with some UV rays.
Try to cook it sixteen ways,
Bake it with a honey glaze.
Freeze it, fry it..oh and then,
Add water…it will live again.
Try to lick it, if you dare,
The water bear, it just don’t care.
You can find them any place,
They’ll even live in outer space.
Desert, doorknob, tiger’s lair,
A dirty puddle, a camel’s hair.
In geysers, mountains, anywhere,
The water bear…it just don’t care.
A tardigrade is microscopic,
But please please please, don’t be myopic.
In any climate, frozen or tropic,
They’re still a fascinating topic.
If you ignore them, it won’t be fair…
But the water bear…it just don’t care.
