Out there beyond the breakers,
Out there beyond the sand,
Lives the Magic Mirror Maker,
The best one in the land.
He puts mirrors on pulleys,
And sticks, and rods, and more.
Which let you see so many things,
You’ve never seen before.
One of his best devices,
Shows the way back of your head.
Another, when you’re lying down,
Can look under your bed.
One lets you look inside of your mouth,
At the back of your teeth.
Some can look over objects.
Some can look underneath.
One shows the sky above you,
And one looks down below.
One shows the road behind you,
One shows where it will go.
They say his best contraption,
More valuable than gold,
Can use mirrors to help you find,
What your future will hold.
And people always ask him,
“Oh please won’t you give me,
“A mirror I can look into,
“To show what I can be?”
And if you go and ask him,
To sell this one to you,
He’ll go inside his secret lair,
And this is what he’ll do.
He’ll tape a piece of paper,
Right on to your forehead,
And write some magic characters,
In special ink that’s red.
He then will send you on your way,
(After you pay your fee).
He’ll say, “Look in a mirror, and,
“The answer you will see.”
Now I still have that paper,
I’ve copied it below.
Please tape it on your forehead if,
You really want to know,
The secret to your future,
And where your life will go.
So go look in a mirror,
Most any one will do.
